Our Mandate, Vision, and Values
Mandate
The Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation is the deposit guarantor for Saskatchewan credit unions, and the primary regulator for Provincially Regulated Financial Institutions (PRFIs).
We instill confidence in the province’s credit union system with a mandate of:
- Guaranteeing the repayment of deposits in Saskatchewan credit unions
- Establishing regulatory standards and ensuring PRFIs are performing to those standards
- Promoting responsible governance by PRFIs, and contributing to the strength and financial stability of the credit union system
- Directing PRFIs to take remedial action on material deficiencies, and any issue that may put depositors’ funds at risk and;
- Maintaining and managing a guarantee fund in a sound and prudent manner

To instill public confidence in the Saskatchewan credit union system.
Values

Adaptive: We are adaptive in anticipating, understanding, and responding to an evolving financial and regulatory landscape. We stay informed of emerging risks, trends, and opportunities within the credit union system and adjust our approach to support proactive, risk-informed oversight.
Adaptability also shapes how we work together. We remain open to new ideas, embrace change, and continuously strengthen our knowledge and skills. Internally, we support one another through change with clear communication and a willingness to adjust. This enables us to remain effective, resilient, and responsive, both as individuals and as an organization, while upholding our mandate to maintain system strength and financial stability.
